CZÊSTE PYTANIA:

1.      Do you have any mock TESPIS exams for therapists or are there any past papers  available for public?

Yes, the exam materials from the first pilot exam session organised in Krakow in December 2009 are available now on the FTP server.

2.      Does the oral part of the exam require 'very' professional therapeutic language?

The examiners are aware that some of the candidates are not professionals but still students so they don’t know all professional terminology yet. Of course it’s better if you use some medical terms during this part of the exam but actually it is up to you to choose the vocabulary which you will use to answer the examiners’ questions. If you use more general vocabulary it’s fine as long as you answer the questions in a comprehensible way. If you additionally show off with some professional medical/therapeutic words you can simply score some more points.

3.      What kind of written tasks can I expect?

You could expect that one of the tasks would be based on the reading part of the exam and could for example be something more like this: “Write a letter to the rehabilitation hospital in which you explain that you would like to work as a volunteer in their rehab unit to learn the new therapeutic methods which they use in this hospital. Explain why you are interested in this particular method.”

The second task should be based on some graphical stimuli so you could get a question in which you need to compare two tables with some therapeutic results for example what is the success rate of treating patients with different types of therapeutic methods.

4.      What types of formal letters should  I revise to prepare for the writing part of the exam?

You will be asked to write a letter which you are likely to write for professional purposes in the field of therapy. So you should know how to write a formal letters such as letter of inquiry (asking for more information about a course, studies, programmes, etc.) letter of application (if you apply for a job,  practice at the hospital, professional course, etc.)

5.      What score do I need to gain to pass this exam?

You will need 60% of correct answers in total from all parts to pass the TESPIS exam. So you may have a weaker score in one or two parts and better scores in the other parts and you still can pass the exam.

6.      Where can I find some more information about this exam?

You can check for updates on the project website: www.tespis.eu

7.      Where can I register for the exam?

You should register on the project website: www.tespis.eu

However, if you have any technical difficulties you can contact Polish organisers of the exam on: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

8. Is there any more medical terminology you may consider as helpful to pass the exam?

Possible way of revising therapeutic vocabulary is searching in the internet the information about some professional courses for physiotherapists such as PNF, Mulligan, etc. or  If you read about a couple of professional therapeutic courses you will learn/revise some useful therapeutic vocabulary this way.
